1. No seats
Bus and train fares increasing. Number of people taking the public transport also increasing. Number of seat remains the same. What kind of logic is that? You want to increase our fares and government is urging us to take the public transport but the waiting time is forever so slow! A lot times when I waited for more than 20 minutes for a bus during peak hour. Once I flag early for the bus, instead of stopping for me, the driver simply looked at me and drove off! I think bus company should issue apology letters to our company because it is not out fault that we are late for work. We leave home early, bus didn’t stop for us and we ended up having to wait longer for the next bus.
2. People sharing their music
Sometimes people share in the selfish way. They blast their music so loudly in the buses that even when we’re seated 6-7 seats away from each other, we can hear exactly what music are they listening to. I don’t know if they are deaf or what. Normally those people who likes sharing their song list are those listening to their heavy metal, techno genre. Or half the time, its the old man listening to his mini portable radio to the oldies hokkien song.
3. Cockroaches and ants
Yes! I’m sure this is something pretty common. There are signs everywhere to warn people that eating and drinking is not allowed but they still go ahead and eat like nobody’s business. Bubble tea, fries, snacks, bread and sweets are the more common food people eat in the bus. However, after eating, they will sweep their crumbs on the floor and often leave the plastic wrappers and leftover drink cans behind! How selfish can these people get? When you see cockroaches you want to complain. How will you feel if I were to eat in your room and leave the leftover there to attract the ants and roaches? Then when I see them, I tell you ‘hey, why is your room so dirty!’.
4. People sleeping next to you
I know that sometimes when we get too tired, we’ll try to get a quick nap when we’re on the bus/ trains. However, sometimes when people really fall into a deep sleep, their head will start swaying left right up down. It’s really irritating and I do not like it when their head is almost lying on my shoulder. You never know if those people are really sleeping or faking it anyway. There are some perverts out there who pretends to sleep and slowly lean towards you. I bet those pervs get some kind of satisfaction while leaning so close to their victims.
5. Sardine packed
A lot of times when a bus is already sardine packed with passengers and there is hardly any extra space for us to move in, the driver still open the door to let more passagers board the bus. No one is alighting and I don’t know how the drivers expect the passengers to stand. There is already no more extra space and the bus driver still open the door and keep shouting ‘please move in’. That’s not it, when all the passengers try pushing their way up the bus, the driver cannot close the door!! In the end, we wasted another minute or so just to let 1-2 passengers onboard.
6. Short people at their disadvantage
People always hold on to the hand grips and me being very petite is at an disadvantage. This is especially when the person beside you has BO and the moment when he lift his arm to hold the hand grip, you will be at the eye level to his armpit!!!!!! There was once when I was standing beside a guy in singlet and when I turn my head towards his direction, I saw white flakes on his armpit hair!
7. Sleeping and getting stomped
Times are different. While you’re sleeping, the chances of you getting stomped is very high. If you browse through stomp website, almost half of the entries are about people not giving up their seats in trains, buses and pretending to sleep. People don’t care if you’re really sleeping or what. So long there is a pregnant/ elderly in front of you and you did not offer your seat to them. You’re going to appear in stomp. That’s how ridiculous we are becoming. We don’t get the facts right and simply assume whatever as we deem.
